Conclusion

In short, foreign languages are declining rapidly. There is a lack of reasons to learn it, unless you plan to use it in everyday life, such as moving to that country. Jobs don’t require American multilinguals, the language is taught improperly, and most likely you’d never need to use it for anything other than the most extreme of circumstances. I’m not saying that we should forgo foreign language altogether, we need more cultures and need to be less American-centric. I know and acknowledge that there are benefits for learning another language cognitively, but it shouldn’t be a requirement. Think about it. Have you ever needed to use a foreign language you were taught? Ever?
